Graduating from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 1987, John joined the Hanover Insurance Companies later that year. While with Hanover, John completed the Advanced Claims Training course, one of only six persons to do so nationwide that year. He spent the next two years investigating and settling Bodily Injury and Property Damage Liability claims.
In September 1989, John left Hanover to join a national broker in Boston, MA as an Account Representative. He was promoted several times, including to Assistant Vice President - Technology Services in 1994.
John joined the Sullivan Group as Vice President and Agency Principal in 1996 in order to co-found its new Emerging Markets Risk Finance Practice. Sullivan Group is a fast growing brokerage providing commercial, personal and employee benefits coverages.
Experienced with a wide variety of risks, he is broker to a growing number of the Northeast’s premier emerging technology accounts. John is experienced in Manu scripting property forms to complement these clients’ unique property exposures; is a recognized expert in negotiating and placing both Product/Clinical Trial Liability and Directors & Officers Liability policies (including IPO and M&A exposures).
In December 2000, John became one of seven members on the Broker Advisory Council to the Medmarc Insurance Companies. Medmarc is one of the premier providers of Product Liability Insurance to the Life Science industries in the world today. John also has attained both the Associate in Risk Management (ARM) and Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designations.
John can count numerous emerging technology firms as clients during his career, including EPIX Medical, Organogenesis, Cubist Pharmaceuticals, Dyax Corp., Pharm-Eco Laboratories, Curis, i-Logix and American Superconductor Corporation.
